When we visited the firm in Marylebone he complained about the advice the UK government was providing concerning trading with Syria.
“We were in pole position to win a contract for the supply of components that are currently being purchased from Germany. We don’t like what is occurring in Syria but to hear the politicians trying to put pressure on both Russia and China , both of whom pay lip service to democracy and are dictatorships, smacks of of political opportunism of the most cynical type.

We were in poll position to get the order for a new telephone system from the owner of the company in Harrow. We had discussed it with him on and off over a period of 18 months and his responses were very positive. The process was brought to a head when a competitor went to see him and made an alternative proposal to him. We looked at what he was being offered and felt there was something wrong.
He had been told he was getting free installation on ISDN lines and free calls for a year.
He wanted us to compete with what was offered by the other provider. We decided not to. The deal he had been offered was a linked to a lease. What the other supplier had done was bundled the line installs, the call traffic in to the lease. According to our calculations the price of the telephone system had been inflated by about £3k.
For some reason the customer took exception to our salesman and he refused to do business with him. We also lost him as a customer.

The firm in Fulham have their telephone system for 4 years. When the system was installed they did not want to upgrade their multi-analogue lines to digital as we had recommended. There has been a continuous problem of the system locking up as a result of calls being diverted out when the office is not manned.
We ordered an upgrade on the lines to 6 circuits of ISDN2. It took BT 3 weeks to make the changes.
We then had to put in a new ISDN card in to the system and re-programme. The customer also added a range of ddi numbers so that each extension could have calls going directly to it.
Since the completion of the work the freezing up of the system has stopped the customer now says he should have taken our advice earlier.

The day we went to the customer in Enfield it was raining very hard. The traffic was horrendous and we got to the appointment late. We rang ahead to say we were running late but were stuck in a traffic jam caused by an accident. When we arrived the boss had taken another meeting which was expected to run for some time. Because we had to go to another appointment we were unable to wait for his meeting to end. We had intended to do a demonstration of the telephone system we were proposing to the customer.
We got a phone call from the customer who was very aggrieved because we could not hang about.
He concluded his call by saying forget about selling him a telephone system.
You just have to put somethings down to experience!

During a visit to an a customer in Ealing he went into a rant about the government not focusing on real problems effecting people. He lives in Ealing area and recently a house not far from where he lives was occupied by squatters. What he could not understand was why this problem had not yet been address by the government. There have been so many high profile cases of a similar nature and yet no legislation has been introduced to stop it.
He said “ Your company is here today to help me plan for the future because we want to expand.
When you make your recommendations for our telephone system I want you to future proof us from some of the problems we have had in the past that cost us money”
It would be great if the government tackled problems instead of all the posturing they engage in

Limp Willie Hague was lecturing the business community about creating more jobs. Yet he is a member of a government that is looking to introduce legislation concerning gay marriage-is this era of economic correction this appears to be a misdirection of scarce government time. Where are the priorities to tackle the economic problems and encourage job creation.
When our CEO visited the a small manufacturer in Carsholton and he said that he expected to be ordering a much more powerful telephone system than the one proposed. He explained that the business had not expanded at the rate he had anticipated. His political sympathies were in the government direction but he felt they were not doing enough to encourage demand which would create more employment. He did insist that the telephone system did have the capacity to expand when growth returned to his business.

This guy from Bromley contacted us and asked us to visit him to discuss his telephone system. We made an appointment and visited his premises. Once the meeting started, from an early point, we realised that it was not going well . He had bought a telephone system on
e-bay and tried to install it himself and programme it. He failed miserably and now he was seeking professional help to resolve his issues. This is the type of work we make no money on and have to apply scarce resources to complete such work. We declined the work and told him that if he had any problems in the future that necessitated the install of a new system we would be glad to help. All companies installing new electronic equipment should take the extended guarantee or maintenance on the equipment.
There are continuous disagreements about the merits of these contracts. But when a company manager contacts to you to say his business is paralysed because some of telephone system is not working it is never any consolation to us to point out to him that he refused the maintenance against our advice. In these circumstance we do the best we can but a customer with no maintenance only gets priority if there are no other maintained customers requires attention.
One of the most important aspect of maintenance which is not widely appreciated except by professionals is the SLA(service level agreement) that the contract confers on the enduser. The provider is obliged by contractual obligation to respond within defined time scales depending on the level of failure. Maintenance also provides for hardware to be replaced at no cost to the enduser where a technical failure occurs.
The customer in Brixton had a bad experience with his previous telephone system because he did not have any maintenance. He was most insistent on having a contract for maintenance on the new telephone system.

The Barking customer invited us in to do a comprehensive survey of their existing telecommunications infrastructure and the security system they had. The objective of the review was to make suggestions on how to improve the telecommunications and the security system. It was a great opportunity for us to make a significant contribution to their business practices for telecommunications and security system. Our recommendation included the installation of a new telephone system and a change of their CCTV system which the company accepted.
The customer recently told us that he loved the new telephone system and said the training on the use of it has proved a boon.
He also is thrilled that he can view the premises and all the CCTV screens with his i-Pad and says it adds a new dimension to his security system.
