Often start up companies are confused what a business phone, office phone or phone system is – and what the justification for investing in one is.
The easiest analogy is this – a non system phone is a ‘dumb terminal’ (as at your home) offering little functionality or efficiency.
A system phone has programmable features customised for your business, such as keys to short dial colleagues, transfer to mobiles or record calls.
A system, or group of system phones also allow a more efficient use of few lines to the number of staff eg 5 staff with office phones can share just 3 lines.

An automated office phone system is also known as “Auto Attendant”.
An auto attendant is an automatic answering feature which is part of a phone systems voicemail. It can be a great feature for a small office to direct calls simple to the correct person or department.
We highlight simple as the best AAs have only one or two options on them. Complex AAs confuse calling customers and the system administrators who have to manage them.

Smartinfo moved an office block containing 4 separate companies from Upper Grosvenor Street, Mayfair W1 next to teh American Embassy, to just the other side of Hyde Park Corner, near the Irish Embassy, Although only a mile in Distance the two streets were served buy two different BT Exchanges, this caused a number of problems for all 3 of the businesses.

Smartinfo moved a rapidly expanding solicitor from Gants Hill, Ilford to Highams Park, Chigwell.
Previously the firm had started in Walthamstow, and as the progress and success of the firm had grown on word of mouth and recommendation, for this reason the firms partners were keen to retain all their different geographic numbers, as many friends and family pass contact numbers.
