Smartinfo have installed a new Phone System on the trendy new outpost of a small bar group on Hackney Road, east london.
The chain of 3 trendy pub / bars in East London had 2 main requirements.
- To link the 3 bars
- Centralise the booking of bands in one, deal with food and drink supplies in another, restaurant bookings
- To have cordless in all the bars, with roaming ability between locations
- Full functional transparency, that is name showing on phone screens, directory access, voicemail indication
A voip system was installed in the main branch with a VPN linking the three sites, with Wifi and a few wall mounted phones with larger displays on as the main bar phone (as all cordless phones can go missing. The cordless phones are wifi all running off the same subnet, so manager can take phones between branches.

Isn’t it strange when the Chancellor delivers a budget some of his tax collecting measures can start at midnight on the day of the budget and yet the so called giveaways are always in the future.
We have previously advocated and continue to do so that if the government is serious about creating an economy where SME’s are creating jobs then any measure that is put in place to aid that objective must be targeted directly at those firms. There are numerous measures that would have an immediate impact like less onerous employment laws, holiday from employment tax(known as Employer Contribution NI) in early years of new job created and a more aggressive use of capital allowances. Instead we have seen isolated extension of development areas which are good but inadequate.
When we agree a contract with a customer to sell him a phone for business purposes we have to install it and train him in the use of the new system. Our customers expect the benefits and savings to kick in immediately. In virtually all cases the impact and gains are instant. All installers must trained on each system so they can programme them and train people on how to use the system. Nobody gave us any help with the training cost involved. Soe where is the government aid when you need it?
