The reality is that all of the people who made comments seemed to be flying by the seat of their pants and were not basing the statements on coal face experience.

During a visit to a prospect in Lambeth we had a lengthy discussion regarding the phone system and the other network services they need for their business. The conclusion, of the meeting after assessing the proposed activity, was that they needed Fibre to the premises connection.

Our MD was asked by a prospect to come to his office in Kingston upon Thames to discuss a project about phones for offices. We installed a phone system in his office two years ago and he had remote IP phones connecting his office in Lagos that had made substantial savings for him on calls since the installation was completed.
The project he wanted to discuss was the setting up of a joint venture to exploit the contacts he has at government level. He believed that there was a fantastic opportunity convince the his contacts that for relatively small investment in phone systems they would create ongoing significant savings.

When a customer invites you to visit them to discuss their telephone system you always feel you have an edge on your competition. This is not always the case. When the presentation for the new system was completed the customer then said he had been pitched by another company who offered a trade-in allowance against his existing system. He suggested that if we offered him the same allowance he would give us the order. When it was pointed out to him that the lease on the existing telephone system was not completed and he was not in the position to offer it as a trade-in because legally he did not own it. He then realised that our competitor had not advised him well and he gave us the order.
