When we visited the prospect in Leyton they had decided to accept our proposal for a new business phone system and were interested in BT’s FTTC broad band. The Managing Director started a rant about BT when he heard that the local exchange had been upgraded and FTTC was available at some locations served by his exchange.
“When BT was forced the open their exchanges to competition the biggest error the the then government made was to leave them with a monopoly of the supply of lines. If they did not have that monopoly and there was true competition for the delivery of lines BT would not survive in its present form” He said. We think he hit the nail on the head.

There are plenty of comments in the trade press concerning the future of the PBX phone systems. Frankly most of the comments are speculation and seem rather un-informed. The reality is that all of the people who made comments seemed to be flying by the seat of their pants and were not basing the statements on coal face experience.
What most companies want is reliability, resilience and reasonable cost. The market is not yet convinced that the alternative to the PBX offered that.

During a visit to a prospect in Lambeth we had a lengthy discussion regarding the phone system and the other network services they need for their business. The conclusion, of the meeting after assessing the proposed activity, was that they needed Fibre to the premises connection.
Because of the nature of the large downloads and uploads filed and the speeds necessary to avoid bottle necks in the work flow.
The product was ordered and installed and the customer is completely satisfied with the performance of the new connection.
He said “ The install and monthly charges was high but already we can see the productivity gains in the improved delivery and receipt of files which is saving considerably in staff time. Now that we see it working so well we probably should have done it sooner”

Our MD was asked by a prospect to come to his office in Kingston upon Thames to discuss a project about phones for offices. We installed a phone system in his office two years ago and he had remote IP phones connecting his office in Lagos that had made substantial savings for him on calls since the installation was completed.
The project he wanted to discuss was the setting up of a joint venture to exploit the contacts he has at government level. He believed that there was a fantastic opportunity convince the his contacts that for relatively small investment in phone systems they would create ongoing significant savings.
A plan was discussed and he said that his ministerial contact would be in London for the Olympics and we could bring the matter further.

When a customer invites you to visit them to discuss their telephone system you always feel you have an edge on your competition. This is not always the case. When the presentation for the new system was completed the customer then said he had been pitched by another company who offered a trade-in allowance against his existing system. He suggested that if we offered him the same allowance he would give us the order. When it was pointed out to him that the lease on the existing telephone system was not completed and he was not in the position to offer it as a trade-in because legally he did not own it. He then realised that our competitor had not advised him well and he gave us the order.

A company in Hounslow was introduced to us by a friend of the owner and we were asked us to visit him. He wanted to discuss his telephone system with us and how we could help him.
When we got there he brought us to an office that he called his boardroom. On the table in the office he had a second user telephone system and 15 handsets and wanted to know if we would be interested in installing it for him. We explained that as a matter of policy we only did installation work on behalf of customers who purchased the hardware for us.
